“I Am Saved” Makes Amazon Music Fresh Folk & Americana Playlist

Updated: May 21, 2020

So happy to announce that my new single “I Am Saved” has made it on the Amazon Music Fresh Folk & Americana Playlist alongside some of my favorite artists.

As a Berklee College of Music graduate, I learned about Gillian Welch from songwriter instructor Pat Pattison. She was one of his prized pupils, and he introduced me to her Appalachia influenced sound back in the ‘90s.

After moving back to Tennessee from Boston, I saw her perform at the tiny neighborhood venue in East Nashville called Radio Café with her partner Dave Rawlings. They were a delight.

Gillian’s song “Happy Mother’s Day” is on the Fresh Folk playlist.

Another favorite is Jason Isbell for whom I had the privilege of opening a benefit concert in Muscle Shoals, Alabama many moons ago. He performed solo with his electric guitar, and I watched his set from side stage.

His songs “Only Children” and “What’ve I Done To Help” are both on the Fresh Folk & Americana Playlist.

Another Muscle Shoals acquaintance, former lead man from The Civil Wars, John Paul White is on the playlist with a Rosanne Cash duet “We’re All In This Together Now."

I had the honor of hanging out with Rosanne and her former husband Rodney Crowell for a few days in Washington D.C. visiting Senators Offices on Capital Hill as part of an artist rights advocacy visit in 2016.

It was on that same trip I met the wonderful, wacky T Bone Burnett, who later invited me to have pie with him, and brought along Steven Tyler of Aerosmith as his surprise guest. Talk about a memorable slice of pie!

Ruthie Collins is on the Fresh Folk & Americana Playlist. I wrote a song with her in my then Nashville music publisher’s office on Music Row back in 2009 called “Make You A Man.”

Later, when I was singing in the Nashville Vocal Choir led by Renee Grant Williams, we sang some background oohs and ahhs for Ruthie at a breast cancer survivors event where she was performing.

That was before I survived breast cancer myself. Who knew?

Sending out lots of thanks and gratitude to the Amazon Music folks for including my song on their curated playlist. It means a lot to a career independent artist like me to be featured alongside so many great artists on the Fresh Folk & Americana Playlist.

Go give it a listen, and please remember to Save, Like and Share “I Am Saved” with your friends
